Rooms at MBS: My Marina Bay Sands Experience (Part 2)
Picking up from where we left off…
The VIP Lounge was in tower 1.. Our room is in Tower 3.. Time to walk…
above: These are some giant lamps in from of a Chinese Restaurant along Tower 2.
During our stay at The Marina Bay Sands we stayed at their Atrium Deluxe Room at the 21st Floor Tower 3. The Atrium Room is basically their standard room. To be honest, apart from some upgrades, it was… a fairly standard room. It looks and feels similar to other hotels out there. This only shows that you really have to get out of your room to fully experience what Marina Bay Sands has to offer!
ROOM BASICS:
The room was big and cozy, the temperature was perfect. The pillows were not too soft and the mattress was comfortable. The room has a spacious veranda facing the other side of the hotel. Too bad for us, the view was an ongoing construction. When you are outside the veranda, you can hear the noise from below, good thing that the sliding doors blocks most of the outside noise.
It was a rainy day at Singapore… A lot is still being constructed around the MBS Complex.
The room has the following features:
- High Speed WIFI/LAN Internet connection (NOT FREE)
- Automatic Curtains
- Philips Flat Screen TV with Cable (26 channels and PPV Movies)
- Extra Pillows inside the Closet
- 1 King Bed or 2 Double Beds
- Iron with Ironing Board
- Tea and Coffee Making Facilities
- Lots of Closet Space
- Complimentary Water
- In-Room Thermostat
- Slippers
- Laundry Bag
- Towels
- Bath Robes
- Complimentary Fruits
- Complimentary Welcome Chocolates
- Bedside Control Panel
- Work Desk
- In-Room Safe
- Hair Drier
- Holy Bible
- Universal Sockets for your chargers
- Wireless Phone with LCD/Wired Phone

The chocolates were so good!
Their water is imported from Malaysia.
TOILET AND BATH:
For most people the Toilet and Bath is more important than the room itself, it must be clean, spacious and good smelling. That you can get from MBS! Same as the room, the Toilet and Bath was Big, cozy and elegant. Glass panels divide the shower, marble sink and the toilet area. One thing that I noticed was the door. It has a big wooden sliding door which has no lock. Yes, you cannot lock it from the inside. So if you are with your naughty friends… well, good luck! :p There was no Tub, just a big shower area. The toiletries are branded as Paiza, which means VIP on Mongolia. There is also an exhaust fan and plenty of Hot and Cold Water.
MINI BAR:
The highlight of the room for me was the mini bar. It was the first time that I encountered an automated hotel mini bar. Automated meaning each item in the mini bar has a sensor, if you remove any item from its place, it will automatically be charged to your room! That’s right! Now, you cannot drink a coke and replace it with a coke from 7-11 later! :p This is also how they allow express check-outs. No need to check the mini bar! By the way, there are chocolates inside the mini bar, better keep your kids out of the fridge or they might take it out out by accident! 🙂
INTERNET:
Internet is not free in MBS (Boo!). But they have packages available for you to choose. They have 1 day, 3 days, and 5 days. We availed of the 3-day package (72 hours) priced at SGD 48++. Once you get your username, you may use this on all of your devices simultaneously for both Wired and Wireless connection. On our 3-day package, we were able to connect using a laptop via LAN and 3 Phones via Wi-Fi. One annoying thing was, every time you get out of the hotel (out of range) you need to log-in again, the network is not automatically stored on your phone. The average internet speed I got was 5MBPS down and 3-4MBPS Up! Not Bad at all!
ROOM SERVICE:
Even though MBS has 2500 rooms and suites, their room service is still very fast and efficient.
THE OTHER ROOMS AND SUITES:
I was scheduled to do a tour on the other rooms and suites during my stay unfortunately they had to cancel since they were fully booked that day. They just gave me a set of pictures of the other rooms. Too bad I was so excited to see their chairman suite, which I believe is more expensive than the presidential suite. Maybe next time…

Looking at this pictures really makes our room a standard room! Hahahaha!
