If Makati recently introduced us to Spectrum Buffet at The Fairmont Hotel, well, Alabang answered immediately with Cafe Eight at the Crimson Hotel Manila at Filinvest City. The newest luxury hotel this side of the metro – Crimson Hotel – is now offering Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Buffets to their Guest and is ready to go head on with the South’s Heavyweights – Bellevue Hotel and Acacia Hotels.

Cafe Eight is located on the 8th Floor of Crimson Hotel which also houses their Ultra Luxurious and Spacious Hotel Lobby and Their Grand Ballroom. Also in its soft opening, Cafe Eight is still experimenting on the combination of dishes that they will be offering on their buffet. The spread is not yet complete and the mainstays are yet to be finalized – yes it is still small and only has the basics for now. There’s the bread station, salads, appetizers, main courses, the carving station (which IMHO serves amazing Prime Rib), the Soup station, Seafood, and of course the dessert station which serves the best leche flan I have ever tasted!!

Cafe Eight is in the process of Improving its Layout and adding more dishes to their buffet spread. I am looking forward to a Dim Sum Station, Pasta Bar, Noddle Station, and Tempura Station before in the future.

One major thing that I noticed about Cafe Eight was; apart from the small set-up in the carving station, there was no open kitchen set-up anywhere in the buffet area. You would not see any kitchen equipment or anyone cooking on the spot. For me, it feels like dining in a private party where the buffet is being refilled but you don’t get to see how your food is being prepared. I am not sure if they will be going with this setup but honestly adding an open kitchen really makes a buffet more alive and interesting. I guess we just have to wait and see how it finally turns out. Also, a little ambient music could be better.

For now, these were the dishes served during my wonderful Saturday Lunch at Café Eight.

Well, if you are not yet aware, there is an ongoing price war in the buffet arena here in the South. Most hotel buffets prices hover around the P1,000 price point (Without sacrificing quality of course). Cafe Eight is no exemption, in fact they even offered additional discounts for the south peeps! Yes, if you live in the south of the Metro you are in for a treat!

Crimson Hotel Buffet Prices/Rates/Promo Rates (Regular Rates applies to Northerners)

Breakfast P749 net (P937 regular)
Lunch P825 net (P1,031 regular)
Dinner P1,050 (P1,312 regular)

Southerners, may avail of the promo starting January 10 to February 10, 2013 just by presenting a valid government or company ID indicating residence or business address within the following areas: Muntinlupa, Las Pinas, Parañaque, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon. (I think Bicol is too south-thy already, but you can probably argue :p)

So hurry and be one of the first to experience Café Eight’s buffet at Crimson Hotel Manila.

Hanggang Sa Muli! Paalam!
